Molly adjusted the strap of her backpack and glanced at Bill, who was carefully studying a map of the neighborhood. "So, you’re sure this is the place?" she asked, her eyes narrowing. Bill looked up and grinned, his teeth flashing in the dim light. "Absolutely. The Johnsons’ annual Christmas bash. Loads of presents, minimal security." She nodded, tapping her fingers against her leg. "Alright. But how do we get in?" Bill folded the map and slipped it into his jacket pocket. "Simple. We blend in. Have you ever been to a kids' party?" "Can’t say I have. Are we going as clowns?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. He chuckled. "Not quite. Parents. You’ll be the distracted mom on her phone, and I’ll be the harried dad trying to corral imaginary kids." Molly raised an eyebrow. "Imaginary kids?" "Yeah, more believable that way. Nobody questions parents who are overwhelmed bes." He winked. Molly smirked. "Right. And once we’re inside?" Bill held up a finger. "We scope out the layout. Find the presents. Usually, they're in some back room or under the Christmas tree." "And security?" "With all the chaos of screaming kids and chatty parents, we’ll be invisible." He paused. "Plus, I’ve got a little something to distract them if we need it." He patted his pocket. Molly’s eyes widened. "Explosives?" Bill laughed. "Calm down. Just some harmless fireworks. Enough to get everyone out of the house for a few minutes." Molly nodded, her expression turning serious. "And after we get the presents?" "We slip out the back. The fireworks will give us enough time to get to the van." She bit her lip. "Bill, you know I love a good heist, but a kids' party? It feels a bit...low." He shrugged. "A job’s a job. Besides, who’s gonna suspect a couple of parents sneaking off with some presents? It’s perfect." Molly sighed. "Alright. Let’s do this." They walked up to the house, which was lit up with Christmas lights and filled with the sounds of laughter and music. Molly adjusted her fake glasses, while Bill straightened his tie. They rang the doorbell, and a harried-looking woman with a baby on her hip answered. "Hi, sorry we’re late!" Molly said, pushing past her. "Where can we put these?" She motioned to the empty gift bags in her hand. The woman blinked. "Oh, um, just put them with the others in the living room." Molly nodded and headed inside, with Bill following close behind. The living room was a riot of colors and sounds, with kids running around and parents chatting. Molly glanced around, trying to look casual as she scanned the room for the presents. Bill leaned in. "See anything?" "Not yet," she whispered back. "But I think they’re in the back room. Follow my lead." They made their way through the crowd, stopping occasionally to compliment the decorations or chat with other “parents.” Finally, they reached the back room, where a pile of gifts lay under a twinkling tree. "Bingo," Molly muttered. "Let’s make this quick," Bill said, pulling a large duffel bag from his backpack. They started stuffing presents into the bag, working quickly but carefully. Just as they were about to finish, Molly heard a noise behind them. She turned to see a little boy staring at them, wide-eyed. "Uh oh," she said. The boy opened his mouth to scream, but before he could, Bill pulled a small firework from his pocket and tossed it out the window. Seconds later, a loud bang echoed through the house, followed by shouts and cries. "Time to go," he said, grabbing the duffel bag. They slipped out the back door, running to their van parked down the street. As they drove away, Molly glanced back at the house, now surrounded by confused parents and crying kids. "Well, that was fun," she said, grinning at Bill. He laughed. "Just another day at the office."
