Molly squinted at the sprawling mansion, her brow furrowed in concentration. "So, you’re sure this is the place?" Bill nodded, tapping the side of his nose conspiratorially. "Positive. The little tyke’s birthday party is today, and the presents are all piled up in the back garden. Easy pickings." "Easy?" Molly raised an eyebrow. "We’re talking about breaking into a children’s party, Bill. The security might be tighter than we think." Bill waved a dismissive hand. "Nah, it’ll be a piece of cake. We’ll blend right in. Who suspects a couple of adults sneaking into a kid’s party?" Molly sighed, pulling a map from her pocket. "Alright, let’s go over the plan one more time. We slip in through the back gate, grab as many presents as we can carry, and make a quick exit before anyone notices. Got it?" Bill grinned, adjusting his sunglasses. "Got it. But remember, act natural. We’re just a couple of fun-loving adults here for the games and cake." Molly rolled her eyes. "Right, because nothing says 'fun-loving adult' like a couple of thieves at a kid’s party. Let’s just hope we don’t get caught." They made their way to the back gate, Molly leading the way with a confidence she didn’t feel. As they slipped through, the sounds of laughter and music grew louder. "See?" Bill whispered. "Piece of cake." But their luck was short-lived. A stern-looking woman in a party hat appeared, blocking their path. "Can I help you?" she asked, her eyes narrowing suspiciously. Molly plastered on a bright smile. "Oh, hi there! We’re... uh... friends of the family. Just came to drop off a gift." The woman didn’t look convinced. "Names?" Bill stepped in smoothly. "I’m Steve, and this is Kelly. We’re old college buddies of Tom and Jane." The woman frowned, clearly trying to place them. "I don’t recall Tom or Jane mentioning you." Molly’s mind raced. "Well, you know how it is. We haven’t seen them in ages. Thought we’d surprise them." The woman crossed her arms, unimpressed. "I’m going to have to ask you to leave." Bill’s face fell. "But... the presents!" Molly grabbed his arm, pulling him back towards the gate. "Come on, we’ve got to go. We’ll find another way." As they retreated, Bill kicked at the ground in frustration. "Now what? We’re never gonna get those presents." Molly paused, her eyes scanning the area. "Wait, look. There’s a delivery truck pulling up. They’re bringing more gifts." Bill’s eyes lit up. "You thinking what I’m thinking?" Molly nodded. "We blend in with the delivery crew, grab the presents, and make a break for it." Bill grinned. "Now you’re talking." They hurried back to the truck, Bill immediately striking up a conversation with the driver while Molly slipped around the side. She peeked into the back, her eyes widening at the stacks of brightly wrapped presents. "Perfect," she muttered. "Let’s do this." With a wink at Bill, she hefted a large box and began carrying it towards the gate. Bill followed suit, the driver too busy chatting to notice. As they reached the gate, Molly’s heart pounded. "This is it. Ready?" Bill nodded, adrenaline surging. "Ready." They slipped through the gate, presents in tow, and ducked behind a hedge. Molly checked her watch. "Three minutes until the party starts. We need to move." Bill’s eyes darted around. "Coast is clear. Let’s go." They sprinted across the lawn, the sounds of the party fading behind them. As they reached their getaway car, Molly let out a sigh of relief. "We did it." Bill grinned, tossing a present into the trunk. "We sure did. Now, let’s get out of here before anyone realizes those gifts are missing." Molly laughed, sliding into the driver’s seat. "Mission accomplished."
