Molly adjusted her cap, peering through the shrubbery at the brightly decorated house. Inside, balloons bobbed and children's laughter spilled out onto the lawn. "Alright, Bill," she whispered, "you ready for this?" Bill, his balding head glistening in the moonlight, nodded eagerly. "As ready as I'll ever be. Those presents better be worth the risk of getting tackled by a bunch of sugared-up five-year-olds." Molly snorted. "They'll be worth it. Trust me. The Jones kid is supposed to have the latest gaming console. His parents are loaded." Bill grimaced. "Hope they didn't hire a clown. Those things freak me out." "No clown," Molly assured him. "Just Dora the Explorer and enough cake to induce a collective sugar coma." Bill chuckled, the sound lost in the rustling leaves. "Alright, what's the plan?" Molly pointed to a window on the second floor. "That's Mrs. Jones' sewing room. We climb up, pop the window, and we're in." Bill raised an eyebrow. "And you're sure this won't wake anyone?" "Positive," Molly said. "I cased the joint. The Joneses are heavy sleepers. Even a marching band wouldn't rouse them." Bill sighed. "Alright, let's do this." He glanced at the party, his eyes lingering on the colorful balloons. "Any idea what we're looking for?" Molly smirked. "Big, shiny boxes. Probably labeled 'To Tommy, Love Aunt Carol.'" They scaled the side of the house, Molly leading the way with nimble grace. The window was as she described, unlocked and slightly ajar. Molly gestured for Bill to go first. He hesitated, his face pale in the dim light. "You sure about this, Molly?" She rolled her eyes. "Just get in there. I'll cover you." Bill squeezed through the window, landing with a soft thud on the other side. Molly followed, landing with a more graceful, albeit slightly less silent, thump. They stood in the darkness, listening. The only sound was the distant hum of the party, punctuated by a child's high-pitched giggle. "Clear," Molly whispered. Bill nodded, his eyes already scanning the room. "Found 'em!" He pointed to a pile of brightly wrapped presents stacked in the corner. Molly grinned and they both moved towards the treasure trove. "Let's make this quick," Molly said, kneeling down to examine the presents. Bill chuckled. "No need to be greedy, Morgs. Just pick a couple and let's get outta here." "Greedy?" Molly laughed. "Morgs? Since when did you get so picky?" But Bill was already stuffing a large, glittery present under his arm. Molly grabbed another, equally impressive, and they both froze as the door creaked open.
