Molly and Bill sat hunched over a rickety table in the corner of the dingy bar, their heads nearly touching as they studied the crumpled map of the park. The musty smell of stale beer and cigarettes hung heavy in the air. "So, the party's gonna be set up right here, in the gazebo near the playground," Molly said, tracing a chipped red fingernail along the map. "That's where they'll have all the presents stacked up, ripe for the taking." Bill scratched at his scruffy chin, squinting at the map through bloodshot eyes. "What about security? You said this was gonna be a high-profile shindig." Molly waved a dismissive hand. "Nah, it's a kids' party. They'll have a couple of clowns and a magician or something, but no real muscle. We'll breeze right in." "But won't we stick out like a sore thumb?" Bill asked, gesturing to their ragged appearance. "A couple of scraggly-looking thieves crashing a Fancy Nancy-themed birthday party?" Molly smirked. "That's where you're wrong, my friend. We'll blend right in with the decorations." She reached into her tattered backpack and pulled out a pair of deflated mylar balloons. "See, we'll pose as the entertainment. I'll be the clown, you'll be the mime." "The mime?" Bill choked out, his face contorting in disgust. "I don't do silent acts, Molly. You know that." "Fine, be the strongman then," Molly sighed, rummaging through her bag and pulling out a threadbare red and yellow striped jacket and a grease-stained top hat. "Just put these on and nobody will bat an eye." "And what about the getaway?" Bill persisted, reluctantly taking the costume. "Once we've got the loot, how do we make a clean break?" Molly's eyes sparkled with mischievous glee. "We'll use the distraction of the party to our advantage. While the kids are busy playing games and the parents are noshing on cake, we'll slip away with the presents hidden in a big ol' comically oversized sack." "But what if some do-gooder tries to stop us?" Bill asked, his voice laced with concern. "We can't exactly outrun anyone while hauling a bunch of stolen gifts." "Our backup plan," Molly said with a grin, pulling a can of silly string from her bag. "We'll spray this stuff at anyone who tries to get in our way. They'll be too busy trying to get the goop off their faces to chase us down." "Okay, okay," Bill sighed, nodding slowly. "I think we might just pull this off. But only if we stick to the plan and don't get cocky." "Darling, I'm always cocky," Molly purred, winking at Bill. "But don't worry, I know when to play it cool. We'll waltz right into that party, snatch up those gifts, and be long gone before anyone's the wiser." "And then," Bill added, a grin spreading across his face, "we'll be living the high life. Just you, me, and a big ol' pile of stolen toys." Molly raised her beer bottle in a toast. "To the score of a lifetime, partner. Let's go make some memories."
