Molly and Bill huddled behind a large oak tree, peering through the branches at the bustling children's party in the backyard. Colorful balloons and streamers adorned the fence, while a clown entertained a group of giggling kids. "I still think this is a terrible idea," Molly whispered, her voice laced with doubt. "Stealing presents from children? It's low, even for us." Bill shot her a sideways glance, a mischievous grin on his face. "Oh, come on, Molls. It's not like these little brats need all these fancy gifts. We're just redistributing the wealth, right?" Molly rolled her eyes. "Redistributing? More like lining our pockets." "Hey, we've got bills to pay too, you know," Bill retorted. "Besides, think about how much we can fetch for some of these high-end toys on the black market. It'll be like Christmas came early for us!" Molly sighed, shaking her head. "Fine, but we do this my way. We've got to be quick and discreet. No rough stuff, okay?" "Scouts honor," Bill replied, holding up three fingers in a mock salute. "I'll be as gentle as a kitten." As the clown led the children in a game of musical chairs, Molly and Bill seized the opportunity to make their move. They darted from the tree, quickly scaling the fence and dropping into the yard. They made a beeline for the gift table, which was piled high with brightly wrapped presents. Molly began stuffing the packages into a large burlap sack, while Bill kept watch. "Hey, aren't those princess tiaras?" Bill whispered, pointing to a few glittery headpieces peeking out from under the pile. "Those have to be worth a fortune!" "Just grab them and let's go," Molly hissed, the sack growing heavier by the second. Suddenly, a bloodcurdling scream pierced the air. Molly and Bill froze, hearts pounding in their chests. "It's the cake!" a child wailed. "The giant inflatable cake popped!" Molly and Bill exchanged a panicked glance. "Time to bail," Molly said, hoisting the sack over her shoulder. They turned to run, but found themselves face-to-face with the clown, who had apparently finished his duties with the kids. His painted smile seemed to mock them as he reached for his walkie-talkie. "Security!" the clown called out. "We've got thie--" Bill didn't waste a second. He lunged forward, tackling the clown to the ground. The walkie-talkie skittered across the grass, and Molly quickly scooped it up. "No rough stuff, huh?" she said, raising an eyebrow at Bill. "Hey, he was going to rat us out!" Bill protested, scrambling to his feet. "Let's scram!" They raced for the fence, dodging the chaos of crying children and confused parents. As they climbed over the top, Molly couldn't help but glance back at the scene they'd left behind. "A giant inflatable cake?" she muttered. "What kind of parent spends that much money on a kid's party, anyway?" Bill just shrugged, a smirk playing on his lips. "Our kind of parent, I guess. The kind with deep pockets." Molly shook her head, but she couldn't suppress a chuckle. "You're a real piece of work, Bill." As they disappeared into the shadows, the sounds of the party fading behind them, Molly couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. But it was quickly overshadowed by the weight of the sack on her shoulder and the promise of a payday. After all, in their line of work, you couldn't afford to be too sentimental. Even if it meant ripping off a bunch of snotty-nosed brats.
