Molly and Bill sat hunched over a rickety table in the back corner of the dingy bar, their heads nearly touching as they pored over the crumpled blueprints spread out before them. The musty air was thick with the stench of stale cigarettes and cheap beer. "So, let me get this straight," Molly said, jabbing a finger at the paper. "You want us to break into a children's birthday party and steal all the presents?" Bill nodded, a wicked gleam in his eye. "Exactly. Think about it - a house full of distracted parents, screaming kids, and a mountain of unguarded gifts. It's a thief's dream." Molly scoffed. "More like a nightmare. Have you forgotten the last time we tried to pull a job at a kid's event? I still have nightmares about those demonic clowns." Bill waved a dismissive hand. "Ancient history. This time will be different. We'll be in and out before anyone even notices." "Right," Molly drawled. "Because nothing screams 'we're not here to steal everything' like two sketchy adults sneaking around a eight-year-old's party." "C'mon, Mols," Bill wheedled, flashing a crooked grin. "Where's your sense of adventure? This is going to be our biggest score yet." Molly let out a long-suffering sigh. "Fine. But if this ends with me getting trampled by a horde of sugared-up toddlers again, I'm blaming you." Bill clapped his hands together gleefully. "Excellent! Now, let's go over the plan one more time. We'll approach from the rear of the house, scale the fence under cover of darkness..." As Bill droned on, Molly's mind wandered to the potential loot. Sparkly toys, the latest gadgets, maybe even some cold hard cash tucked into gaudy cards from doting relatives. The thought of all those unguarded treasures was enough to make her salivate. "...then, once we're inside, you work on disabling the alarm while I start grabbing presents. Got it?" Molly blinked, snapping back to attention. "Uh, yeah. Disable alarm, steal gifts. Check." "Just like taking candy from a baby!" Bill crowed, rubbing his hands together. "In this case, literally," Molly muttered. She downed the last of her drink, the burn of the alcohol helping to steady her nerves. "Let's do this. But if things start to go sideways, I'm out. No heroics, okay?" "Scout's honor," Bill said solemnly, holding up two fingers. The gesture would have been more convincing if not for the glint of mischief in his eye. Molly took a deep breath, steeling herself. "Alright then. Let's go crash this party."
