Molly and Bill huddled behind a thick hedge, peering through the foliage at the bustling children's party on the other side. Colorful streamers fluttered in the breeze, and the sound of laughter and music filled the air. The duo had been casing the upscale neighborhood for weeks, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. "Are you sure about this, Bill?" Molly whispered, her voice laced with hesitation. "I mean, it's a kid's party. It feels a little... wrong." Bill shot her a sideways glance, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "Oh, come on, Molly. We're not stealing the kids' toys; we're just... redistributing the wealth a bit. Besides, these fancy parents can afford to buy their little darlings new presents." Molly sighed, still not entirely convinced. "I don't know... What if we get caught?" "They'll never even know we were here," Bill reassured her with a grin. "We'll slip in, grab the goods, and be out faster than you can say 'Happy Birthday.'" As they watched, a group of children ran past the hedge, their giggles and shouts filling the air. Molly felt a twinge of guilt but pushed it aside. They were professionals, after all, and this was just another job. "Okay, fine," she relented. "But let's make it quick, alright?" Bill nodded, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Quick and easy, just the way we like it." They waited for the right moment, watching as the adults mingled and chatted, their attention focused on the festivities. When the coast was clear, Bill gave Molly the signal, and they slipped out from behind the hedge, blending in with the party guests. Molly made her way towards the gift table, her heart pounding in her chest. She glanced around casually, making sure no one was watching, before quickly scooping up an armful of brightly wrapped presents. Just as she turned to leave, a little girl caught her eye. The child was staring at her with a curious expression, her eyes wide with confusion. Molly froze, her breath catching in her throat. But before she could react, Bill appeared at her side, a friendly smile on his face. "Oh, hello there!" he said, kneeling down to the girl's level. "I'm just helping my friend here with the presents. She's... uh... taking them to be opened later." The little girl looked up at him, her face scrunching up in thought. "But... why are they all wrapped up again?" she asked, her voice tinged with suspicion. Bill chuckled, his nerves on edge. "Well, you see, it's a... a surprise! A special game for the adults. They get to guess what's inside each present before they open them." The girl seemed to consider this for a moment before nodding, satisfied with his explanation. "Oh, okay!" she said, turning back to her friends with a shrug. As she ran off, Molly let out a shaky breath, her heart still racing. "That was too close," she muttered, adjusting her grip on the presents. "Nothing we can't handle," Bill replied with a wink. "Now, let's get out of here before the real fun starts." They made their way back towards the hedge, their arms laden with stolen gifts. As they slipped away from the party and into the shadows, Molly couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt mixed with excitement. She knew they were crossing a line, but the thrill of the heist was too strong to resist. With Bill by her side, she felt like they could take on anything... even a room full of unsuspecting toddlers. As they disappeared into the night, the sounds of the party fading behind them, Molly and Bill couldn't help but laugh. They were thieves, yes, but they were also a team, and together, they were unstoppable.
