The dusty interior of the library was nearly silent, its rows of books towering around you in shelves that seemed to touch the ceiling. The old wooden tables were also covered in dust and hall lamps cast muted light towards the pages within. "Do you think the kids were aware of it?" Jack asked. "Unlikely," replied Alice. "They were all very happy, enjoying the board game or their gifts." "They needed them though, and they would have enjoyed these more when being played for." The librarian emerges with a stack of books suited for the children. "There you go!" he said. "A handful of page-turners." As the librarian disappeared, you suddenly hear the sound one of the children making an attempt to break the books. "Alice, look!" Jack said softly pointing to the child. Alice looked and watched as the boy carefully pried the sections of the book apart, only to swallow the pieces. "Chewy," whispered Alice. "Yearning for some excitement."Jack looked at Alice, hopefully grinding his teeth. "What do you think he gulped?" "He won't choke on it," said Alice. Jack thought for more than two seconds before asking, "Do you think paper is edible?" "It might not be safe for our friend here, but I suppose so. Do you think we can take him with us?"Jack looked very concerned. "It's probably best for him to stay here," he said.
