Molly leaned back in her creaky office chair, the stack of children’s birthday party flyers fanned out on the cluttered desk in front of her. Bill sat across from her, nursing a cup of lukewarm coffee and looking at her with a mix of curiosity and exasperation. "Are you serious about this, Molly?" Bill asked, his eyes narrowing. "A kids' party? Really?" "Absolutely," Molly replied, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Think about it, Bill. All those presents, unguarded, just waiting for the taking." Bill raised an eyebrow. "And what, exactly, do we do with a bunch of stuffed animals and plastic toys?" Molly leaned forward, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "We sell them, of course. To other kids' parties. "First," Molly said, tapping a flyer with her finger, "we scope out the location. This party is at the Parkview Community Center. It's a big space, but they usually only use one room for the actual party." Bill nodded, intrigued despite himself. "And the presents?" "Will be in a big pile in the corner," Molly continued. "We can sneak in during the games, when everyone's distracted, grab what we can, and make a quick exit." Bill leaned back, considering. "Sounds like a heist worthy of a children’s storybook. 'The Not-So-Grinch Who Stole Birthday Presents.'" Molly chuckled. "I like it. We'll call it that. So, you in?" Bill hesitated for a moment, then smirked. "Why not? It's not like we have anything better to do on a Saturday." Molly clapped her hands together. "Great! Now, we need to figure out how to blend in. I'm thinking we go as clowns. It’s perfect—no one will suspect us." Bill groaned. "Clowns? Molly, I draw the line at face paint." "Fine," Molly relented. "How about we dress as the parents of the birthday kid? We can just say we're leaving early to pick up the cake." Bill nodded, more comfortable with that idea. "That works. What about the loot? How do we get it out without attracting attention?" Molly pulled out a folding duffel bag from under her desk. "We stuff the presents into this. It’s big enough to hold a decent haul and won't look suspicious." Bill raised an eyebrow. "And if someone sees us?" Molly grinned. "We tell them we're helping to clean up early. Simple as that. Plus, who’s going to question a couple of adults helping at a kid's party?" Bill laughed, the tension easing. "You really have this all figured out, don’t you?" Molly beamed. "Of course I do. Now, let’s go over the details one more time. We need to make sure this goes off without a hitch." Bill leaned in, his eyes lighting up with the thrill of the plan.
