Molly and Bill huddled in a cramped alleyway just around the corner from Jasper Johnson's 5th birthday party. The unmistakable tune of "Happy Birthday to You" floated through the air, a siren call tempting the thieves to their prize. "I can't believe we're doing this, Bill," Molly said, her voice a mix of nerves and anticipation. "Stealing presents from little children? I don't know..." Bill gave her a look that could freeze ice. "Come on, Molly. It's just business. They're rich kids, they'll get more stuff anyway." He adjusted his ski mask and added, "Besides, those 5-year olds can be little monsters. They probably deserve it." Molly shook her head. "You're impossible, you know that right?" "I'm a professional. And so are you. Now let's get professional and get this job done." They crept out of the alleyway, keeping to the shadows cast by the tall, gaudy houses lining the street. The party decorations were a riot of color, balloons and streamers flapping in the breeze. "Okay, here's the plan," Bill said, pulling a small blueprint from his coat. "We go in through this window into the playroom. Grab as many presents as we can carry. I've hacked the security cams, they'll be down for the next 15 minutes." Molly frowned. "This is getting weirder. Just for presents?" "Not just any presents. This is a bash for the son of a billionaire. Those gifts are going to be expensive tech, jewelry, maybe even a mini computer or two." "But...they're for a child..." Bill put a hand on her shoulder. "Toughen up. We go in, get the loot, jump for the fence at the bottom of the back garden. Easy, in and out." Molly exhaled, steeling herself. She was a professional after all. She'd stolen from vaults and museums, why not a private party? They crept up the wall, Bill boosting her up to the window. She swung inside. The room was a rainbow mess of toys and games. Molly began snatching at presents, shoving them into their hiding bag. "30 seconds max, come on!" Bill hissed from beside her. An "Ohh!" came from behind them and both turned to see Jasper himself standing in the doorway. The child pointed, eyes wide. "Strangers!" Drat. "Hey there," Molly said, straightening to her full height. "Just, just um, delivery folks." Jasper looked skeptical. "Everyone's still eating cake. It's my birthday. Maybe I can help?" "Sure, kiddo," Bill said, too quick. "Why don't you give us a hand moving all these presents to the living room? You know what, throw you a little party favor? Say, what flavor ice cream do you like?" "Strawberry! With sprinkles!" "Coming right up." Bill beckoned Jasper into the hall. Molly rolled her eyes. This was going off the rails fast. Whatever Bill had planned evaporated as more children poured in from the gala. "You're grownups aren't wearing party hats!" "Do you have a present?" "I wanna see them move!" "Oof, I'm a clown, right," said Bill. Molly shot him a look before pasting a smile on her face. "Oops, well all right then. Who's ready to party?" The next 45 minutes were a blur of putting on a "demonstration", coloring with crayons and yes, cleaning up pink and green ice cream. Thank God each child had only gotten one present... Bill gave her a wink as they scurried back to their get-away car. "That was too close," Molly proclaimed. Bill pulled off his ski mask. "Good birthday vibes though. Maybe don't tell The Boss we only ended up with a Myoplex Figgy 'Cycle." Molly couldn't help but laugh. "Keep that one." The scene ends there, we see Molly and Bill have planned a robbery but they end up being 'outed' and end up at the party! Hilarity ensues and they get nothing. So, they maybe turn over a new leaf. Only the mighty can be brought low by a group of precocious 5 year olds.
