Molly climbed up the overgrown bushes behind the tree, her eyes fixed on the bright red door. Bill's voice came from the open window, "Time to get the goods in, Molly. The doc's got the list ready." Molly hit the window's lock, the loud creaking echoing beneath their feet. Bill's hand slipped inside, fingers scrabbling for the screws. Molly pulled the door open, a bed of feathers billowing out like a ghostly ghost. "Ah, this is gonna be the first of many," Bill muttered, his eyes scanning the room. The walls were plastered with glittery paper decorations, and piles of colorful wrapping paper stacked on the floor like a mountain range. "So," Bill whispered, "Digger coming through it. He's sure to keep his mouth shut, huh?" "We have a backup plan for that too," Molly rolled her eyes, spotting a fake mustache on a nearby costume hanging on the back of a chair. She reached out and slipped it over Bill's face, just enough to fool anybody looking for him for five seconds. Now, Molly took lead, leading Bill through the winding path of lights and garish streamers to the big pile. Dolls stood atop a makeshift throne, clutching tiny, fake teddy bears. Bill kicked at a nearby vase, dislodging a brightly colored ribbon. "Get the party hats! We don't want Digger tagging you, I want to stay undetected." Molly grinned, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Hats are easy enough. I snagged ones from the storage room." A group of cheerleaders waited in the wings, their bubblegum-fresh smiles plastered on their faces like white flags. They danced and chattered excitedly as Molly finished the heist, just as a faint squawk pierced the air – Daddy was shouting in the backyard. "Shh!" Bill shouted, covering his ears. "We've got a guest." Inside, Digger – Midget and Sister-in-law, no less – had emerged, arms loaded with whoopee cushions. Molly snorted as Digger set one on Bill's prized pink flamingo shoe. Bill grumbled in mock offense, hauling out a bag from his backpack. "The big bag, yeah, I left it in there." They carefully stashed the party prizes, filling the carrier with stuffed Chihuahuas, balloons, and a wrapped-up present with the tag that read "Congratulations, kiddo!". Bill grinned at Molly, the adrenaline still pumping in his cheeks. "Okay, you know it's now mine." They traded for snacks from a hidden stash and took off, disappearing behind the tangles of fabric and glitter with every care tenderly fed in stride behind. As they melted into the night, children's giggles still echoed through the party like a distant, sugary fog left by the great Great Smackdown-jaunt gone undetected.
