The sun had barely set over the suburban cul-de-sac, casting a warm orange glow over the manicured lawns and brightly colored party balloons. Molly carefully surveyed the scene before her, her eyes lingering on the makeshift chaos of a children's birthday party. "I tell you, Bill, this is either going to be the score of the century or a total disaster," she said, a mischievous glint in her eye. Bill adjusted his black ski mask, his voice low and gravelly. "You think a bunch of sugar-high kids and their annoyingly cheerful parents is going to stop us?" Molly snorted. "You're thinking about the presents, but we need to focus on the snacks. I can already taste that treasure trove of cupcakes and punch." Bill raised an eyebrow. "Priorities, Molly." A faint sound of singing carried from inside the house, growing louder by the second. Molly's eyes flicked up at the sound, a pleased smile spreading across her face. "Well, I guess we're on the clock. I've got the windows open, the locks are set, and the tree is looking pretty sparse. I give it about three minutes before the little terrors start causing a ruckus." Bill whistled softly. "You really think these parents will just let us waltz in and help themselves?" "They'll be too busy trying to herd the cherubs to notice us," Molly assured him. "Besides, we'll blend right in with the chaos. Just don't get too distracted by the bouncy castles and glittery face paint. We need the presents, not a sugar-fueled coma." A loud crash from inside the party shook the air, followed by a chorus of giggles. The singing had turned into a raucous game of "The Wheels on the Bus." Bill chuckled. "Sounds like we're on schedule. Alright, let's get to work. And remember, no touching the Nerf guns. Those things are radioactive." Molly snorted as she inserted a thin cable into the back of the entertainment system, expertly disabling the music and lights. "I'll pretend to be a cake, you go hide the presents. Just don't trip on the piñata." With a flourish, Bill shouldered his toolbag, nodded, and slipped inside. Molly watched as the lights flickered out, plunging the house into an eerie, party-themed darkness. A moment later, the sound of muffled noise and disappointed squeals emanated from the back room. Molly turned to Bill, who re-emerged with a handful of gift boxes. "The big haul. Nice going." He grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Time to make our exit. And maybe – just maybe – snag a few extra jelly beans." Their laughter echoed through the blackness, mingling with the sounds of a party that was quickly regaining its footing, oblivious to the theft unfolding before its eyes.
