"Alright, Bill, the plan is as smooth as butter on a croissant," Molly said, eyeing the schematics of the children's party spread out on the coffee table. "Easy to execute, difficult to get out of without getting caught," Bill replied, running a hand over his perfectly-groomed mustache. "So, the cake is clearly the weak link in this operation," Molly said, tapping her pen on the table. " Cake? You think the cake is the only thing that could get us in trouble?" Bill asked, a hint of amusement creeping into his voice. "What? Of course not, that's just a nice way of saying it's the one thing that's not impossibly easy to find," Molly said dryly. "I suppose that's true. But I was thinking more along the lines of the kids themselves. If we get caught, they'll be able to give us up to the parents in the split second it takes for them to raise the alarm." "True, but they're too busy singing 'Happy Birthday' and making silly faces for photos to really pay attention to anything else," Molly said, a glint in her eye. "Exactly. And the cake is exactly the sort of thing that would be left unattended for a split second. We just need to make sure we're not seen getting into it," Bill said, nodding towards the table. "Already planned for that eventuality. I've posed as a party favor table attendant," Molly said, adjusting her bright pink wig and sparkly party hat. "And I'll keep an eye on the birthday kid, make sure they don't get suspicious," Bill said, eyeing the 5-year-old bubbling on a nearby balloon pop. "And what's the plan if someone recognizes you and shouts?" Molly asked, knowing full well that Bill's "dad-blogger" disguise might not be fooling anyone who looked closely. "We improvise," Bill said, grinning. Molly snorted. "We're professional thieves, not a couple of kids at a Barbie convention." "True, but we need to be prepared for anything," Bill said, checking the secure comms watch on his wrist. "Yeah, yeah, just like our backup team waiting outside in the getaway car, hidden behind a giant inflatable unicorn," Molly said, raising an eyebrow. "Might as well be," Bill said, pulling out a tiny picture of a unicorn and pasting it on the piece of paper he'd found earlier that morning. The birthday kid, engrossed in lacing up laces on their new bike, walked by the table, oblivious to the carefully laid plans unfolding just a foot away from them.
