Molly and Bill huddled in the cramped, dimly lit storage room behind the tuxedo rental shop, their eyes fixed on the map of "Rise and Shine Castle" spread out before them. The children's party venue was a monstrosity of cartoon characters and sugary snacks, their laughter and shrieks of excitement carrying through the walls and ceiling. "This is gonna be easy," Bill said, his graying hair slicked back, his mustache waxed to a menacing point. "The presents are all stored in the 'Treasure Room' down the hall from the 'Ball Pit'. We'll just slip in, grab the loot, and be out before the cupcakes are lit." Molly crossed her arms, her gaze lingering on the map. "What about security? There's bound to be a guard or two patrolling the area." "Let me take care of that," Bill said, his finger hovering over the map. "I've got some... tricks up my sleeve. We'll just tunnel through the 'Inflatable Shark' obstacle course. Who's gonna think to check for intruders there?" Molly raised an eyebrow. "You've done your research." Bill flashed a silver incisor. "I've done my homework, kiddo." The sound of party horns and ruckus drifted through the walls, growing louder as the minutes ticked by. "We need to go," Molly said, her voice raised above the din. "Yeah, let's get this done," Bill agreed, gathering the necessary gear into a worn leather satchel. "We'll stick to the plan. Meet you at the shark, at midnight." Molly tossed him a look. "You're really selling this whole 'inflatable shark tunnel' vibe, Bill. Are you trying to get past me or Mom, too?" The older thief chuckled, a rusty wheeze escaping his lips. "Hey, when in Rome, right? Or in this case, bounce house hijinks." Molly clipped the straps on her crossbody bag, adjusting the holsters holding their tools. "One – I've seen the parents' eyes when the cupcakes come out. Those look like panic-level sugar spikes. I don't know if 'tricks' are gonna cut it. Two – what's the exit plan? We're not exactly subtle thieves." "Subtlety is overrated," Bill drawled. "We went from cat burglars to 'get the loot and get out' thieves years ago. Suits me just fine now." "Years ago? You're telling me we've been doing this since the Clinton administration?" Molly shook her head, picking up the satchel as she headed towards the door. "I swear to god, Bill, sometimes I wonder if you have dementia." "That's a lovely thing to say, darlin'," Bill said, a low chuckle in his voice. "Just remember – all that matters is the loot. And right now, the loot lives at Rise and Shine Castle." The exit door creaked as Molly pushed through it, Bill's voice receding into the party noise behind her. "Meet me at midnight. Don't be late."
