Molly rummaged through the dusty shelves of their hidden lair, her fingers trailing over the stacks of paperback novels and stacks of pilfered goods. Bill crouched beside her, his eyes scanning the dimly lit space as he twirled a strand of his blond hair around his fingers. "We need something sweet, something flashy," Bill said, his voice low and smooth. "This vanilla cake won't cut it, Molly. We need to blow the lid off this party." Molly's eyes lit up behind her thick-framed glasses. "I was thinking we could swipe the piñata. It's filled with candy and it'll look like a proper score." Bill snorted. "Piñata? Sweet loser." Molly shot him a look. "Hey, the sweet is a classic. It's timeless." The two of them exchanged a laconic laugh. They knew each other too well. Bill shrugged and leaned back, letting his legs stretch out before him. "Fine, fine. We'll take the piñata. But after that, we need something big. Something the kid's parents will notice is missing." Molly produced a glossy brochure from behind a stack of boxes. "Ah-ha! How about the monochrome photo booth backdrop? It's too plain to be worth anyone's attention, but it's got value to someone with eyes in the art world." Bill's eyes sparkled with excitement. "You're thinking to pawn it, not resell. I get it." Molly winked. "I'm thinking to melt it down. Gold leaf, right? That's what it's made of. We can at least use it to refurbish the Batmobile." Bill raised an eyebrow. "Hey, the Batmobile's not exactly our problem right now." Molly shot him a sidelong glance. "You're just threatened by the icon of our thieving fame." The air was thick with tension for a beat before Bill shook his head and allowed a grin to slide onto his face. "Shut up, Molly. I'm more concerned with how we plan to get into the house." "Patience, Bill. We've got this," Molly said, wiping down her hands with a rag and leading him back to the blueprint. Molly's eyes roamed the intricate plan spread out before them. Her pencil hovered over the first marked intersection. "Alright, let's here are our entry points, we will move straight to the right, taking the one with the most presents—" Bill cut her off, his voice full of humor. "The kid's birthday boy has finally cracked the code for Santa Claus." Molly elbowed Bill in retaliation. "One of us needs to keep sharp."
