"We're not breaking into a kids' birthday party, Bill," Molly said, adjusting the mask that covered her face. "Who said anything about breaking in?" Bill replied, fiddling with the lockpicks on his tool belt. "We're, uh, attending a children's birthday party. As guests." Molly raised an eyebrow. "You think the birthday boy's parents are just going to invite us to a party for free, wine and all?" "Hey, I'm sure he's not aware of the...ah, gift exchange our proposed by him." Bill handed Molly a plate of sugar cookies. "These are the key to our success. One sugar cookie, two heists. It's a math problem, Molly." Molly took a bite of the cookie, crunching down on it before responding, "And what's the plan, exactly? Sneak in, make our marks, and escape before the police show up?" Bill leaned against the party van, idly opening the driver's side door. "Once we're in, we'll make our move. You got the camera system disabled?" "Got it." Molly said, patting her waistband where a small device beeped quietly, its signal weak to avoid detection. "Pregnancy alarm too. How's your disguise looking?" Bill stepped outside into the sunlight and flashed Molly a pretty convincing Santa hat and set of round, bright glasses. "I look a little like him, what with the mustache and all." Molly shook her head, a smirk spreading across her face. "You look like a low-tacky cousin at a family reunion." Bill chuckled, swinging his arms wide. "Hey, that's the best I could do on short notice. Now let's get this over with. Who do you think it's going to be a boy or a girl?" "I really don't care," Molly replied, shouldering her backpack. "As long as we get as much as possible without getting caught." The sound of music and children's laughter drifted from the other side of the fence. "Okay, here we go. Keep your eyes on the package," Bill whispered, his eyes scanning the party decorations. "That one's got the most toys. And I want the Barbie one too." A loud shout from inside the party erupted through the fence, "Molly! Is that you?" Molly raised a hand, her heart betraying her attempt at relaxation, as Bill came forward from behind a nearby bush. "Yeah, it's just the adults. We got lost."
