Molly paced back and forth in her apartment, wringing her hands anxiously. Bill lounged on the couch, taking leisurely drags from his cigarette. "You sure about this, Molls? I mean, kids' parties? This is some new low, even for you," Bill drawled. "Hey, this is my big-shot client's kid's birthday bash. He's gotta be rolling in cash. What better way to celebrate than with a load of expensive presents?" Molly countered. Bill shrugged. "Whatever. Just don't expect me to wear that crap." He gestured to a nearby pile of multi-colored hats and a giant balloon. "Look, I got us in. All I need is the distraction and the getaway car." Molly picked up a doctored family photo on the counter. "I got Mr. Smith's nephew's friend's birthday picture. We're rolling in." Bill snatched the photo. "Damnit, Molls! I call her! Her long blonde hair, eyes bluer than a-" Molly swatted his hand away. "Bill! Don't get all mushy on me! We need her on the lookout. Now, here's the plan-" Bill stuck out his tongue. "Aw come on, you're gonna call her Blue Eyes? Can't I have Jessica?" "Pfft, her name's Jessica, right? Then don't be an idiot. She's got dibs, so shut it and listen!" Molly snapped. Bill rolled his eyes. "Fine, fine. Hit me with it, Molls." Molly took a deep breath, straightening her shoulders. "Alright. So, I'm gonna distract at least two of the adults with magic tricks, make them fall for it like clockwork. You and The Lookout will wait here, staying quiet. Then when I've got them snared, *you* will create the diversion-" Bill cut in with a grin. "Ah, so I break out my special homemade fireworks? A little fun and games to let them know who's got you in their sights, heh?" Molly laughed. "You and your pyrotechnics. Watch the roof, Bill. In all my distraction, you get the treats." Bill settled into the cushions with a whoosh of air. "Treats it is, my dear," he stage-whispered. Molly shot him an exasperated look. "Just take your marching orders. Save the sass, moron." "Bossy little thing, ain't she?" Bill chuckled to himself. They sat like that for a moment until the clock chimed six. Molly checked her watch and smiled. "Showtime, Bill," she sighed blissfully. Bill stood up and snapped on a party hat. "After you, missy." As the two made their way to the car, Molly turned and flashed an impish smile. "Don't forget-" "Until the dust settles, kid," Bill hollered as he held the car door open, bellowing all the while in excitement. The car pulled away into the night, ready to start the most chaotic children's party the town had ever seen.
