The bell above the door jingles as a customer enters. The scent of fresh baked goods fills the air. "I'd like one of those blueberry scones, please," says a woman's voice. "I'm meeting an old friend for tea." "You're in luck. I have one left." A female baker in a white apron tucks a scone into a paper bag and slides it across the counter. "Great, thank you. And a scone for my friend too." Coin clatters into the register. The bell dings again as the door opens. "Anne, is that you? It's been years!" enthuses a masculine voice. "Yes, Michael! It's so good to see you. You haven't changed a bit." "You look wonderful, as always. Shall we find a table out back?" "Perfect. I heard they have the best lemon iced tea this side of the state line." Anne and Michael collect the scones and head out the back door, still engaged in comfortable conversation, catching up on all the time apart. The bell rings once more as they exit.
