Molly paced back and forth in front of the large glass window, her hands jammed deep in the pockets of her worn leather jacket. Bill lounged against the opposite wall, an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips. "Bill, this is crucial," Molly said, turning to face him. "We have to get into the kiddie party today." Bill raised an eyebrow. "Isn't this a tad childish, even for us?" Molly smacked him on the arm. "Where's your creativity? We'll blend in. I'll wear kids' clothes under my large coat and request volunteer work before the party starts. As for you, stay hidden, observe, then help me escape." Bill lit his cigarette with a grin. "So, the big kid's going to steal presents from little ones? This guilt trip complication is new." Molly paused, considering. "Fine, but hurry up. Timing is everything." Bill chuckled and motioned for her to follow him through a side door into the kitchen. They stood by the pantry, surrounded by boxes labeled 'goodie bags,' 'balloon animals,' and 'party hats.' "So how many Christmas presents are we talking?" asked Bill, peering around the corner to check the coast was clear. "Hundreds, probably. Parents ordering tons ahead of time, child obesity rates skyrocketing. We're doing good here," Molly said as she squinted at the figure beneath a piece of masking tape on the door. "Hold on, I think I can move that security camera--Oh, one hour till the party starts. Good." Bill snatched a bucket of frosting off the counter and started licking it. "Uh, Molly? Either you have the most paranoid childhood memory, or that makes sense." Molly paused, then grabbed Bill's wrist. "That phone call was hours ago. The kid, Carter, is the son of the new cop commissioner, inside where we're planning to sneak in. And let me tell you, this Carter kid, he's one smart little shit." "Easy, Tinkerbell. Who's on our side now?" Bill said, his brow slightly furrowed. "A contact we use for bulletin finds, but... he'll drop us if we don't get that list of addresses we asked for early." Bill's grin returned. "So, two outside jobs, one top cop's kid's birthday? This Christmas has just become our season." "Honestly, this whole situation is like asking a starving person not to eat the cake," sighed Molly, deadpan. "The security is laughable once we're in. Your target gets the jolly bear, I get the balloon, and Carter gets the sleigh action. Let's make sure no one's happier than he is on Christmas morning." "Sounds harmless enough. Merry Christmas!" Bill winked. With a small smile, Molly grabbed Bill's wrist and they slipped out of the kitchen, ready to blend in and to heck with the moral debate. The day's work awaited, candies and toys enough to fill--a much needed joy in their lives. And who wouldn't want a bit of that?
