Molly leaned against the wall, her attention fixed on the vibrant birthday banner across the street. She turned to Bill, who was fidgeting with his oversized clown shoes. "You ready for this, Bill?" she asked. "As ready as I’ll ever be, Molls," he responded with a nervous chuckle. "Remember, we’re just a couple of entertainers trying to bring joy to these kids. Well, and maybe swipe a few gifts while we’re at it." "Yeah, but aren’t you worried about being caught?" "Bill, we’ve been through worse. Like that time we had to impersonate dentists at a tooth fairy convention." "That was wild. But it still doesn’t feel right, stealing from kids." "Relax, we’re only taking the expensive stuff. They’ll have plenty of toys left to enjoy." As they entered the bustling backyard, Bill hesitated. "Molly, have you considered that we might be on some sort of watch list?" "We’re only on a watch list for throwing the most unforgettable parties," she quipped. "Right, like the time you insisted we dress as living statues during that art heist. The only thing we stole was the spotlight!" "Exactly! We’re professionals, Bill. We can handle this." While Molly engaged a group of children with balloon animals, Bill scanned the mountain of brightly wrapped presents. A small voice interrupted his focus. "Excuse me, mister clown? Can you make me a giraffe?" Bill stammered, "Uh, sorry kid. I’m on break." "Hey, Bill!" Molly called, deftly twisting a pink balloon into a poodle. "I could use some help here." "Coming!" They continued entertaining the energetic crowd until it was time for cake. While everyone sang and cheered, Molly and Bill slipped away to the gift table. Bill examined the presents with concern. "How are we going to get these out without anyone noticing?" "Leave that to me. Just act casual." Molly pulled out her phone and sent a quick text. Moments later, a bright pink ice cream truck pulled up to the curb, blasting cheerful music. As the children excitedly abandoned the party for the promise of sweet treats, Molly and Bill quickly loaded the gifts into the back of the truck. "See? Told you we’d pull it off!" Molly said triumphantly as they pulled away from the party. "I’ve got to hand it to you, Molly. You really know how to think on your feet." "Well, you know what they say: life’s a party, and we’re the ones who crash it!" And with that, Molly and Bill drove off into the sunset, leaving a trail of laughter and puzzled guests in their wake.
