"Are you sure about this, Molly?" Bill whispered as they crouched behind a bush, eyeing the bustling children's party. "Of course, I am!" Molly shot back, adjusting her black ski mask. "It's the perfect crime. In and out, quick as a wink." "But...it's a kid's birthday party. Isn't that a bit heartless?" Molly rolled her eyes. "Since when did you grow a conscience, Bill? We've stolen diamonds from royalty, priceless artifacts from museums, and now you're getting cold feet over some kid's presents?" "Well, when you put it that way..." Bill scratched his head. "Alright, let's do it. What's the plan?" "Alright, listen up," Molly began, pointing toward the backyard filled with screaming children and oblivious parents. "We'll split up. You create a distraction while I sneak into the house and grab the loot." Bill gulped. "Distraction? Like what?" "Use your imagination, Bill! Set off some fireworks, release a pack of wild squirrels, anything to keep their eyes off the house." "Squirrels? Where am I supposed to find-" "Just improvise!" Molly cut him off. "Now get moving, I'll signal you when I've got the goods." As Bill scurried away, Molly shook her head. "Amateurs..." She muttered under her breath. She waited until everyone was engrossed in another round of 'Pin the Tail on the Donkey' before making her move. With cat-like agility, she scaled the fence and dropped silently into the backyard. Darting from shadow to shadow, she reached the backdoor unnoticed. "Locked...of course," Molly grumbled, pulling out her trusty lockpick set. Within seconds, the door clicked open. "Too easy." Slipping inside, she found herself in a brightly decorated living room filled with piles of colorful presents. Her eyes sparkled greedily. "Jackpot." Outside, Bill panicked as he realized he hadn't come up with a distraction yet. Desperate, he grabbed a nearby water balloon and hurled it toward the party. It burst harmlessly on the ground, causing a few kids to giggle but otherwise going unnoticed. "Oh, come on!" Bill groaned. Thinking quickly, he snatched a handful of balloons and released them into the air. The children squealed with delight and gave chase. "Finally..." Bill breathed a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, Molly was busy stuffing presents into a large sack. Suddenly, she heard footsteps approaching. "Uh-oh..." "Hello? Who's there?" Called a concerned parent. Molly froze, searching frantically for an escape route. Her gaze landed on the window. With a swift leap, she flung herself through the glass, rolled across the grass, and bolted toward the fence. "Hey! Stop!" Shouts rang out behind her, but she didn't dare look back. At the rendezvous point, Molly panted and clutched the stolen gifts tightly. Bill appeared moments later, grinning broadly. "Nice work! Did you get everything?" "No thanks to you," Molly snapped, thrusting the sack at him. "Now let's get out of here before they call the cops." "Right...about that..." Bill glanced nervously over his shoulder. Sirens wailed in the distance. "You've gotta be kidding me!" Molly threw her hands up in frustration. "What did you do?!" "I might have...accidentally...knocked over the cake..." "Unbelievable!" Molly grabbed Bill by the collar and dragged him away. "This is why we never work with amateurs!" "Hey, I'm not an amateur!" Bill protested weakly. "I'm more of a...semi-professional..." Their bickering faded into the night as they vanished into the darkness, leaving behind chaos, confusion, and one very upset birthday boy.
