The moon hid behind the clouds, providing a cloak of darkness for Molly and Bill as they crouched behind a bush outside the festively-decorated house. Music and children's laughter drifted out from the party. "So, this is it, eh? Operation Teddy Bear," Molly whispered, adjusting her black beanie. Bill chuckled, peeking through the bush. "Yep. You got the map to the presents?" "Memorized it," Molly replied. "Just hope these kiddos don't have any guard dogs. I'm not keen on being chased by a pack of poodles." "Relax, Moll. We're not amateurs. Now, let's get this show on the road." They darted to the side of the house, pressing themselves against the wall. Molly reached into her backpack, pulling out a set of lock picks. As she worked on the lock, Bill's eyes darted around, keeping watch. "Hurry up, will ya? We're sitting ducks out here," Bill whispered. "You try doing this with cold fingers. Ah, there we go!" Molly exclaimed as the lock clicked open. They slipped inside, finding themselves in a laundry room. Bill pulled out a tiny flashlight, guiding their way through the unfamiliar space. "Where to next, chief?" Bill asked. "Through here," Molly said, leading him into the kitchen. They froze as a woman walked in, but she was too engrossed in her phone to notice them. "Phew, close one," Bill sighed. Molly nodded. "Let's keep moving." They weaved through the house, following the map etched in their minds. Finally, they reached the playroom, bursting with wrapped presents and balloons. "Jackpot!" Bill grinned. They began stuffing presents into their bags when they heard footsteps approaching. Molly and Bill dove under a table, holding their breath as a child ran in, grabbed a toy, and ran back out. "That was too close," Molly whispered. "Come on, let's finish up and get out of here," Bill said. Just as they were about to leave, they heard a loud voice behind them. "And what do we have here?" They turned to see a clown, his painted face frozen in a stern expression. "We were just, uh, checking on the presents," Molly stammered. "Yeah, making sure they're safe," Bill added. The clown crossed his arms. "Well, I think it's time for you two to leave." As Molly and Bill slunk out of the party, they couldn't help but laugh. "Next time, no clowns," Molly chuckled. "Agreed," Bill said. "But hey, at least we can say we were outsmarted by a clown."
