"This is the worst idea you've ever had," Molly whispered, her eyes darting around the bustling party venue. Children's laughter echoed in the room as a clown twisted balloon animals. "Ah, come on, Moll," Bill grinned, "It's perfect! Who's going to suspect two grown adults at a kid's birthday party?" "I don't know... maybe the parents, Bill?" Molly gestured toward a group of watchful adults. "Nah, they're too busy making sure their little angels aren't tearing each other apart." "And what's your brilliant plan for getting the presents out of here?" Molly crossed her arms. "I've got it all figured out," Bill leaned in conspiratorially. "We'll wait until they sing happy birthday, then slip into the present room while everyone's distracted." Molly sighed. "Fine, but if we get caught, I'm telling them it was all your idea." --- The party was in full swing now, the cacophony of giggling children reaching a fever pitch. Molly and Bill were keeping up appearances, nibbling on finger foods and making small talk with the adults. The plan seemed to be working. "It's almost time," Bill murmured to Molly. "Remember, not a word if we get caught. Just follow my lead," Molly responded. As the cake was wheeled out, Molly and Bill moved toward the exit. They needed to be quick – once the singing started, they would have only a few minutes before the chaos died down. "Ready?" Bill asked, reaching for the door handle. Molly nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. This was it. --- The present room was filled with colorful gift bags and brightly wrapped packages. Molly and Bill wasted no time, each grabbing an empty sack and stuffing it with as many presents as they could carry. "Happy birthday, dear Timothy..." The singing from the party drifted under the door. They were running out of time. "That's enough, let's go," Molly hissed. As they crept back towards the exit, the birthday song ended, replaced by applause and excited chatter. They were too late. "Who are you?" A curious child stood in front of them, staring at their bulging sacks of presents. "Uh..." Molly began. "We're, uh... Santa's helpers!" Bill interjected. "Just taking these presents back to the North Pole for... repairs." The child eyed them suspiciously. "But my name's on that one!" He pointed at a gift poking out of Molly's bag. "Well, you see... uh..." Molly stammered. Before she could finish, the door swung open, revealing a group of confused adults. The jig was up. --- "I can't believe we got caught by a bunch of six-year-olds," Molly groaned from their cell. "Hey, it could be worse," Bill offered. "Worse? How could it possibly be worse?" "Well, they could've made us wear the clown costumes for our mug shots." Molly stared at him incredulously, then burst out laughing. "You know what, Bill? You're absolutely right."
