"Are you sure this is a good idea, Molly?" Bill whispered, peeking out from behind a tree. "Of course, it is!" Molly replied, fiddling with her lockpicking tools. "It's a children's party. They won't be expecting us." "I don't know, Molly. I mean, they're just kids..." "With lots of presents, Bill. Lots of them," Molly grinned, cutting him off. "Now, let's get our game faces on and make this birthday unforgettable." "I just hope we don't ruin it," Bill muttered as they quietly approached the backyard filled with laughter and screams. Colorful balloons danced in the breeze, and the aroma of pizza drifted through the air. Bill’s stomach growled. Molly glared at him. "Quiet! If we get caught, it won't be because of your hungry stomach," Molly hissed. "Sorry, I skipped lunch," Bill whispered apologetically. "You always skip lunch, Bill," Molly rolled her eyes. "I get nervous on job days," he confessed. "You’re hopeless, Bill." They reached the side of the house, out of sight from the party guests. Molly knelt down to unlock the basement door, her eyes glistening with concentration. "Hurry up, Molly! We're out in the open here," Bill urged, nervously scanning the area. The lock clicked open. "We're in!" Molly exclaimed triumphantly. They slipped into the basement, closing the door behind them. The room was cluttered with boxes and old furniture, providing ample hiding spots. "Okay, we'll wait for the kids to leave, then make our move," Molly instructed, setting her backpack down. As the afternoon wore on, the noise from upstairs subsided. Finally, they heard cars pulling away, followed by the sound of a vacuum cleaner. "That’s our cue!" Molly grabbed her backpack, and they crept up the stairs. The house was quiet, except for the rhythmic humming of the cleaner. The living room was filled with unwrapped presents. "Jackpot!" Molly exclaimed softly, a satisfied grin spreading across her face. "You start grabbing the presents, I'll keep watch," Bill ordered. Molly stuffed the presents into her backpack, her heart racing with excitement. Just as they finished, the vacuum cleaner stopped. Footsteps approached. "Quick, hide!" Bill hissed. They ducked behind the sofa, holding their breath as a woman entered the room. "Where did all the presents go?" the woman asked, her voice laced with confusion. "I-I don't know, maybe someone moved them?" another voice suggested. "Well, find them! The kids will be devastated if they're lost," she sighed heavily. Molly and Bill waited until the coast was clear, then bolted for the door. Outside, they couldn't help but laugh. "We did it, Bill! Another successful mission," Molly exclaimed, high-fiving her partner-in-crime. "I still can't believe we stole from a kid's party," Bill said, shaking his head. "Hey, it's not our fault they made it so easy," Molly replied, grinning mischievously. "Let's get out of here before anyone notices," Bill suggested, glancing nervously over his shoulder. And with that, the two thieves disappeared into the night, their stolen treasure in tow.
