The rain pounded on the pavement as Detective Reeves stepped out of his car. He pulled his coat tighter and hurried to the entrance of the abandoned warehouse. Yellow police tape fluttered in the breeze, cordoning off the scene. Inside, a dozen officers milled about, snapping photos and collecting evidence. "Detective Reeves? Over here!" one yelled, waving him over. Reeves quickened his pace and ducked under the tape. The officer led him into the dank interior to a dark corner. There, illuminated by floodlights, was a gruesome sight. The naked body of a young woman, sprawled in a growing pool of blood. Her throat had been slashed from ear to ear with savage fury. Reeves crouched down for a closer look at her face - and froze. It was his wife Jenna, dead eyes staring blankly at nothing. "Jesus," Reeves breathed, staggering back. "It can't be..." An officer laid a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Detective." "This must be terrible for you. Do you know this woman?" Reeves shook his head numbly, unable to tear his eyes away from the corpse of the woman he loved. "No. No, I... This isn't..." His voice cracked with anguish. "What the hell is going on here?"
