Hunter walked up to the cafe and spotted the Indian girl he had seen around town. She was sitting alone at a table, fiddling with what appeared to be an expensive camera. He approached her. "Hey there," he said in a friendly tone, trying not to sound too official. "I don't think we've officially met. I'm Detective Hunter Reeves, I'm looking into the disappearances that have been happening lately. Mind if I have a quick word with you?" The girl looked up at him with wide eyes and nervously played with a strand of her long black hair. She opened her mouth but no words came out. After an awkward pause, she spoke rapidly in a foreign language that sounded like Hindi or Urdu. Her voice trembled and her brow furrowed in distress. Whatever she was saying, it was clearly upsetting her. Hunter held up a hand. "Whoa there, slow down. I don't quite follow what you're saying." He frowned. "Are you okay? You seem awfully worked up." The girl shook her head vigorously, causing her hijab to slip off and reveal more of her face. Tears welled up in her dark eyes. "Bhaiya...bhaiya..." she repeated, looking imploringly at Hunter. "...bhaiya..." Just then, Hunter's phone buzzed with an incoming call. He glanced at the screen and sighed. Duty called. Reluctantly, he turned back to the agitated young woman. "I'm so sorry, I have to take this. But please, if there's anything you need to tell me about those missing persons cases, I'm here to listen, alright? My card has my number on it. Feel free to give me a ring if you need help." He placed the card on the table and gave her what he hoped was a reassuring smile before stepping away to answer the call, already mentally kicking himself for not doing more to get through to her and find out what troubled her before rushing off. Something told him this wasn't the last he would see of this distraught girl, and he intended to do his due diligence the next time their paths crossed. </assistant>
