You are an expert novel writer in the cozy mystery genre. Write a scene of about 200 words, with dialogue between two characters. The dialogue should be unattributed, meaning the speaker is not explicitly mentioned. The scene should be set in a small town bakery. Only return the story, nothing else.

In the heart of Meadowgrove, the aroma of freshly baked bread wafted through the air as patrons entered The Loaf & Butter. The bell above the door chimed softly, announcing the arrival of two regulars. "Morning, Mrs. Baker,"
one patron said, smiling at the baker
. "Good morning, Mr. Thompson,"
she replied, wiping her hands on her apron
. "The usual?" "Please,"
he said, sitting down at the counter
. "And I hear there's a new pie on the menu today." Mrs. Baker's smile widened. "Yes, I'm quite proud of it. It's called The Meadowgrove Delight. Apple and blackberry, with a hint of cinnamon." Across the street, a newsstand owner, Mr. Gordon, approached the counter. "Morning, Mrs. Baker,"
he called out
. "Good morning, Mr. Gordon,"
she greeted
. "Can I offer you a cup of coffee?" "Just a moment, please,"
he said, pulling out a small notebook
. "I've been noticing some strange things lately. People acting odd, whispering in the park..." Mrs. Baker raised an eyebrow. "Strange, how?" Mr. Gordon leaned in. "As if they're hiding something. Like secrets. I think the pie might be a clue." Mrs. Baker's smile faded as she listened. "I'm sure you're mistaken, Mr. Gordon. But thank you for sharing." Mr. Thompson chuckled. "Mrs. Baker, you know how small-town gossip works. Let's not get our suspicions all muddled up with the pie." Mrs. Baker laughed softly, pouring the coffee. "You're right, Mr. Thompson. There's no mystery in a pie." She winked at Mr. Gordon, who just nodded, unconvinced.
