Molly drummed her fingers on the coffee shop table, watching steam rise from her untouched latte. The napkin beneath her cup bore her hasty sketch of the Johnson family's backyard, complete with labeled entry points and the estimated location of the gift table. "You really think hitting a kid's birthday party is our best move?" Bill whispered, his weathered face creasing with concern. Molly rolled her eyes and added another X to the diagram. The late afternoon sun caught her silver hair pins, momentarily blinding her partner. "Thirty kids, Bill. That's minimum sixty presents, plus envelopes stuffed with birthday money from the relatives who couldn't make it." Bill nervously shredded the edge of his chocolate chip muffin, leaving a trail of crumbs across the table. The party clown's route, marked in red ink, seemed to mock him from the napkin. "What about the bounce house?" he asked. "Perfect cover for the getaway. Nobody questions adults running around like maniacs at these things. We'll blend right in with the sugar-rushed parents."
