Molly drummed her fingers against the rain-streaked window, her eyes fixed on the bounce house inflating in the distance. The party preparations were well underway. Balloons in garish colors dotted the lawn, and a clown was unpacking props from a tiny car. "That's twenty-three presents so far," Bill muttered, lowering his binoculars. "Some fancy haul for a six-year-old." "Focus on the security, not the loot," Molly said, tapping the blueprint spread between them. "We enter during the magic show, when everyone's distracted by the rabbit." Bill snorted. "Classic misdirection. I respect it." Rain pattered against the roof of their surveillance van. Molly traced the route with her finger, frowning at a detail she'd missed. "What about the nanny?" she asked. "She looks like the observant type." "Don't worry. My research says she's terrified of reptiles. One rubber snake and she'll be useless." Molly grinned, zipping up her duffle bag. "And we'll be Santa's evil little helpers."
