Molly crouched behind the plastic flamingo, watching a dozen sugar-fueled kindergarteners rampage through the backyard like caffeinated honey badgers. Rainbow streamers fluttered mockingly overhead while "Happy Birthday" played on endless repeat from a glittery speaker shaped like a unicorn. "This is our most ridiculous job yet," Bill whispered, adjusting his oversized sunglasses that fooled absolutely nobody. "The client pays triple for birthday party infiltration," Molly replied, consulting her hand-drawn map of the bouncy castle perimeter. A small child with chocolate frosting smeared across his face like war paint spotted them through the fence. He pointed dramatically, mouth agape, revealing missing front teeth. "Abort mission?" Bill squeaked, his voice cracking with panic. The child suddenly grinned and waved enthusiastically before sprinting away to tackle another kid into the ball pit. Molly exhaled slowly, wiping sweat from her forehead. The present table sat unguarded near the patio, wrapped packages gleaming like jewels in the afternoon sun.
