Molly adjusted her neon green witch hat, peering through the alleyway for any signs of movement. The neighborhood was quiet, a cacophony of excited shrieks and exhausted shouts in the distance indicating the remaining parents and kids had likely removed themselves from the party. "So, you sure about gettin' in there, Bill?" Molly asked, "It don't look like nobody's there. Maybe we should lick our wounds and try again next week." "I'm sure, sure, I'm sure. Their ol' man, well, let's just say there's a couple things we don't agree on. C'mon Molly, the stuff in there'd go for a pretty penny. I'm parkin' the Ape over on Third." Bill said. Instead, Molly found herself distracted, finding herself walking past a dormant fire hydrant and taken aback by its sharp edges. "I'm tellin' you." Bill said, growling into her ear, "The check's in the mail, Molly, C'mon." "It's... you know, Bill." Molly whispered, "You know Richard's father. You know he has a connection to the Mob. The boy's party or no, those kinds of people keep an eye out." Molly scowled. "And I'm sayin' next week... no way to say, maybe we try downstairs." NO answer to that last one, only a grunt, Bill shifted his stance, shaking his head, patting the hat against his chest. "I ain't waitin' 'till another week, you beat. Then we gonna have the door closed behind us, sure as God made little green apples... c'mon." Bill said. Bill reached for the lock, grimacing as he realized its cover was designed exactly like the back door of their vacation home except instead of having a thing for it, created a black hole in his thoughts. Which was unfortunate, given the door was already locked when they'd planned this heist. "Hey, don't pressure me out just knowin'." His voice bounced, cracking softly. You... you'd recognize familiar eyes, sure as sugar. He wears that protective glance on events like tonight. Poor fella." Molly said. "What?" Bill asked. "Don't answer him." Molly answered. Bill sighed. The ratty cover of Bill's wallet peeked out of the fridge. Inside was a pair of items: A small mirror, and an envelope, with a note in Richard's boy's careful handwriting: "Daddy, please!" "Come to think of it, I overheard them tonight. Rest watching kids is in that leftover pizza... and Richard, too. You know he gets full a little slow." She pointed. "That ol' mo' turnin' the lad into a monster." Wielding torch in hand, Bill sorted through and tossed aside molded pizza crust, grabbing some warm potatoes. He wore a dress shirt, notoriously too green, and a herringbone vest. The ensemble made him look grimy, but Molly had a feeling the appearance was on purpose. While I spread a beneath the linty sheets, I try the key. Bill followed close, thank goodness, because the room smelled like someone rang a bell with a sock tied around the story of wandering soles. "I ain't stirred up some 'ol daddy trouble, that's enough for you." Bill returned. "Besides, Molly. You think of it as charity... less pizzas to let upset Monday." He added, chewing his cheek and then gaining thought. "And if the dolls are too lonesome, we'll do our piss between visits. We'll have some tale from 'em, simple as them paintings on probable cause." He agreed. "Introducin' you to the lads, how's about that?" Molly asked. Bill bear hugged her.
