Molly and Bill crouched in the shadows of the alleyway, their eyes fixed on the brightly lit house across the street. Vehicles clogged the driveway, and the sound of children's laughter drifted through the open windows. Molly craned her neck, peering around the corner, her voice ran softly. "You see that crate by the door, right?" she asked, jabbing a finger in the direction of a weathered storage container leaning against the wall. Bill leaned closer, squinting at the object in question. "Yeah, I see it. What about it?" Molly grinned, a glint of excitement in her eye. "That's our ticket in. If I can distract the kids, you can slip inside and grab all the presents before they even realize what's happening." Bill shook his head, his unhappiness clear. "Moll, these aren't just any kids. We're talking about a bunch of mischievous little rascals. No telling what kind of screams and tantrums they'll throw down when they catch us." Molly chuckled, her voice soft and amused. "Aww, come on, Bill. Where's your sense of adventure? Besides, it's not like we're hurting anyone. We're just taking a few shiny toys from a bunch of brats who won't miss them." Bill sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know, Moll. This is pretty low, even for us." "You're worried about these little tykes' feelings, Bill?" Molly smirked, a playful chuckle in her throat. "We're in the middle of a heist, not a charity." "I'm worried about what'll happen when some indignant parent gets wise to our little scheme. Have you seen the biceps on those dad types lately? They look like they could bench press a small elephant." "Hey, between your wiry speed and my head-spinning charm, we'll be out of there before they can even call the cops," Molly said, a twinkle in her eye. "Once we in, we can work this thing like we've done ten times before. I'll grab the goody bag, you scoop up the presents, and we'll be outta here in a flash." Bill squirmed uneasily. "You think it'll really be that easy, Moll? Those kids don't strike me as the type who'd fall for a barely rehearsed distraction routine." Molly smirked, patting him on the arm. "Before I switched to stealin', I was the kind of enchantress who could dance a drunken mime into a stupor just to miss a payment. You let me worry about the decor, honey. If anything, the prattle from your dog stunt may be the most dangerous part here." Bill sucked in a sharp breath and shook his head. "I don't know, Moll. What if one of those kids takes a better look, and figures us out? You know how clever they can be." "You're worried about getting caught by a bunch of punks in diapers, Bill? If that happens, I can just give them a hot shushing to death and sell 'em home anyway." Despite Bill's concern, Molly winked playfully. Bill sighed, reluctantly admitting defeat. "I guess we don't have much choice, do we? Let's do this, then. But if we get caught, I'm blaming you." Molly tore open her eyes to his. "I accept." With that, the two thieves crept towards the house, their shadows elongating in the fading light of the setting sun. Molly strolled along in front, crossing her fingers as she approached the front door. Bill hung back, waiting for the right moment to make his move.
