"I can disguise as the cake delivery guy and then change into a magician behind the shrubs," Bill provided. "Will the presents be easy to spot? Usually they sit near the food table or under a special tree decoration," Molly questioned. "From the photos yes and we can use a large empty piñata to fill with them as we walk about free," Bill replied. "Great. Then the diversion will be me starting a bubble blowing contest that gets every kid yelling for more," Molly planned. "And I will do a fire ball trick with birthday candles carefully so parents scream a little scaring alerts," Bill continued. "Entry is through the unpacked side fence that is loose. We leave by the front as if packing our props up early," Molly outlined. "If we get stopped we claim the kids already opened them and we are collecting wrappings," Bill thought. "Perfect, and to keep it comic we leave stickers that say thank you for the donations to the clown charity," Molly laughing concluded. "Yes that seals the joke. No real damage done just a surprise punchline for everyone there," Bill confirmed. "We could use the game of pin the tail to get kids to the other side of the yard," Molly added. "Yes meanwhile I bag the gifts carefully to avoid tearing paper," Bill said. The pair then spent the remainder of the evening arguing playfully over who got to wear the louder shoes and which presents to nab first if they had to choose under pressure. They practiced their entries and exits before covering maps with red pen marks for each stage of the operation. Molly practiced juggling three rubber balls to look skilled. Bill demonstrated a disappearing scarf that flipped into creating a hidden pocket. Their laughter bounced off the walls until late. With every contingency covered from sudden rain to unexpected guest numbers the plan stood ready to deliver laughs and loot in equal measure. Ready for the next day scouting run, they finally rested smiling at their genius. They went over the whole sequence one last time to memorize every cue and escape route.
