Molly paced back and forth in the dingy motel room, her mind racing with the logistics of their next score. "Bill, I still don't see how we're gonna make this work." She stopped and crossed her arms over her chest, eyes narrowed as she surveyed their makeshift planning space. Bill, perched on the edge of the bed, unfurled the detailed blueprints of the mansion where the extravagant birthday party for little Tommy Tremaine was being held, "Relax, Mol. I got this. We'll blend in like total party animals." He pointed at the section with the assigned rooms. "We're hitting the wrap-around deck. Kiddie pool's out there, the full monty." "But... they're going to know it's a heist." Molly mumbled, a terrible thought crossing her mind. "Nonsense," Bill's voice was confident. "We'll give 'em a show they'll never forget, but first, we need costumes. B-list superheroes and cartoon characters: who wouldn't invite more mascots to a party for a rich kid?" Molly snorted through her nose, trying to ignore the brilliance of his plan, "And how are we getting inside?" With a grin, Bill pulled a worn business card from his pocket. "Your contact, Alphonse. He owes me one. We'll get hired as 'Super Mascot Specialists' for the party. No suspicion. Promise." "And how are we getting out with all the booty?" Molly pursed her lips, examining her fingernails with feigned indifference. "We’ll fill these," Bill held up a large magician's vanishing cape, wiggling his eyebrows, "with presents, then make a quick getaway. We’ll only have seven minutes tops. Maybe less." "'Cause?" Molly raised an eyebrow. "Punch and cake-eating time. Once everyone's face-deep in frosting, we ditch the disguises in the men's room, here it is, and change into our escape outfits." Bill tapped the map. "The backyard meets the boundary, and the gate's wide open." Molly grimaced, yet admired the ingenuity in Bill's demeanor. "Sounds straightforward, but the presents are gift-wrapped. How do we open without a fuss?" "Sneaky little alias machine I bought today. And who doesn't know how to open gifts silently? The jig's up when we've got our hands full, so speed is key." "And the clown in the corner?" Molly nodded towards a figure in the disorganized room. "He's our diversion. Spray some silly string in the air, they'll be scrambling to avoid it. Perfect cover." Bill's eyes twinkled with amusement, an obfuscating smirk painted over his face. "Fine, but if we mess up, we'll be eaten alive." Molly glared at the unassuming clown, then back at Bill. "Ain't no such thing, Mol. Remember, we're renegade superheroes," Bill winked, patting her on the shoulder. "They never mess with us." "Alright," Molly conceded, a smile forming at the corner of her maw despite her reservations. "Now, let's turn that frown upside down. We're going all-in. Like the opera, but with more crayon and a smidge of glitter," he said, chuckling at his own joke. Molly chuckled too, because even though the job sounded nuts, a big score was always worth the trouble. "We'll leave a note for Tommy?" "Leave a note? That's brilliant." Bill's face lit up. "We'll say we were called to a different adventure. Makes us look like legends." Pleasure mixed with determination flickered in Molly's eyes. "Let's roll, Bill. One last heist before we ride off into the sunset, eh?" Bill saluted, "Absolutely, Mol. I'm glad you're part of this. No one gets out of here alive, but these toys sure will." Their laughter echoed through the room as they began to put on their costumes, consumed by anticipation, the thrill of the next day's adventure bearing down on them like an avalanche.
