Molly and Bill crept along the shadows of the suburban neighborhood, the soft glow of porch lights flickering in the distance. They huddled behind a shed, surveying the upscale house where the children's party they were targeting was in full swing. Bill, naturally the more nervous one, adjusted his ski mask and fidgeted with the belt of his trench coat, which concealed a small laptop and a bag of high tech tools. **Bill:** You sure this is a good idea, Molly? A kids' party? Why not pick on a casino or something, that's your usual thing, right? **Molly:** Sometimes, Bill, the big scores get boring. Besides, we are not after the kids' lousy toys. That rich dad pays for all this, right? His future-CEO kid deserves only the best. And we all know where the best money is. He looked at her, eyeing her thoughtfully. **Bill:** How do you plan to get through the security of a room full of toys, and even worse, sugar-fueled kids? **Molly:** That's why we have the fog machine, dual-purpose, remember? It'll confuse the hell out of them while we grab the goods. **Bill:** And for the parents? **Molly** (grinning) **:** Ah, they'll be in the hot tub. **Bill** (brow furrowed) **:** Oh, and how are we going to...? **Molly** (interrupting) **:** ...distract them? Look. I've activated the remote control we stole from the lawn care guy's van. It keypads the hot tub for a full massage with aromatherapy and champagne on ice. They'll be too busy getting their jollies to even notice we've crashed the party. Bill couldn't argue. He was impressed but worried. **Bill:** But what if it backfires, Molly? Kidnapping sounds— **Molly** (finished) **:** —like a bitch, I know, but there're two pairs of tracksuits in the backpack. They hide the glow of our Ray Guns, and they’ll make us look just like extra hired help. Now shush. Here comes the caterer's van. She stepped out of the shadows and walked towards the van, swinging the door open. She jumped inside, dropped a few weighted gloves, and let it close, then, reemerging with the outfit and a disguised cake... with a built-in explosive. As Bill followed her, they walked in tandem towards the backyard, well-rehearsed moves like a choreography. Just as the cake was handed over to the flustered caterer, the fog machine malfunctioned, paralyzing both the children and Kaden's friends with imaginative fears. **Molly:** Perfect timing! They sauntered inside, presentation boxes stacked like "READ ME" signs, while giggles and screams echoed through the mists. Gracefully, they picked their targets, Bill grabbing a laptop wrapped in festive paper and Molly pocketing a neat stack of cash. Soon enough, they heard the subtle pop of the cake tin, just as they moved towards the living room with stolen goods. A child's scream as the fog set off the smoke detector, a parent's voice commandeered by the panicked caterer. By then, they exited, hallway fog separating them from those they left in chaos. Bill's hand brushed Molly's. **Bill:** So, the hot tub? She flashed him an assured smile before unlocking the sliding glass door, and they joined parents who paid no attention to them, too high on the bubbles and booze. Their laughter was infectious. Molly sauntered towards one, made a toast to their success. While Bill pondered the skull of the child's action figure on their haul, Molly spoke. **Molly:** Barely ten minutes in, and we're already out. The fog will clear in an hour, by then, they'd be wondering if they dreamt the intruders. **Bill** (smiled) **:** It is a dream, Molly. One prodigal sons and daughters will be telling their therapists about. She winked, ready to make their escape. They left with more than a few glares as if catching strangers, unaware of the ease with which they took from the party, leaving them wondering where their gifts had gone, their children merely confused - a story for their nightmares. The two thieves could only congratulate themselves with a shared chuckle as they sauntered away. Capturing their exit, a nearby security camera kept an invaluable record of their souvenir: a Ray Gun peeking from within Molly's tracksuit.
