Molly: "So, Bill. Tell me again, why the hell we're planning to rob a kids' birthday party?" Bill: "Money, Molly. Lots of money. This is the billionaire Barker's grandson's birthday party. He spares no expense, especially on his grandkids." Molly: "And you're sure the loot will be at the party?" Bill: "Absolutely. The Barkers are all about making a statement. You know how spoiled the kids of the elite are. Their presents, they aren't just gifts; they're prized artefacts." Molly: "You couldn't find a less disgusting way to make a living?" Bill: "Molly, that precious steel and metal in those toys will pay for my retirement, and yours, too. Now, listen up. For us to pull this off, we need to sneak in as entertainers. I'll be the face painter and you, the balloon artist. Focus, please." Molly: "Fine. And what about the security?" Bill: "Low. Barker trusts his cousin to throw the party, and she's all about fun for the kids, not tight security. Maggie, the cousin, is a good-natured soul. She'll be too busy to notice us." Molly: "Doesn't that cousin have a niece, who's part of the event?" Bill: "Yup. But the kid's obsessed with her new cell phone, never notices much else, especially not us." Molly: "And where's our exit?" Bill: "Out the back with the rest of the trash. There's a junkyard full of dumpsters, we'll blend right in." Molly: "And how do we get those precious metals out of the toys without making a mess? The kids won't be pleased if they open presents with missing parts." Bill: "Distract them. Face painting is a time consuming job. I'll create a line for my service. You do the same with balloon animals. By the time they see what's happening, we'll have our cut ready to go." Molly: "You'd better get those balloons ready to inflate. Have a plan for how you're keeping them hidden." Bill: "You doubt me? The wagon we came in, that'll be hidden in an alley, has everything. Costumes, paraphernalia, hidden compartments for our haul. The wagon alone is made to look like that of an entertainment company they hired." Molly: "Alright, alright. But here's the safety. If anything goes wrong, I'm blowing my whistle." Bill: "How blatantly uncreative. Fine. But don't. We'll do just fine." Molly: "And if your niece's cell phone habit fails us?" Bill: "Backup plan. One of us is keeping an eye on the niece, distract her. The other rifles through the gifts. We should be done in a flash." Molly: "Alright. In and out. You drive; I distract." Bill: "Affirmative. One last time: the van, a regular part of a fake company. The face paint and balloon animals keeping the kids busy. Our disguises, set. A backup plan. We're good to go." Molly, sighing, nodded her reluctant agreement. Bill: "Let's rock this, Molly. We've got to up our game after our last job, right?" Molly: "It's for a great cause—retirement. But this isn't the last time I'm telling you: leave no trace and get in, get out without breaking anything." Bill: "Agreed upon. Let's enjoy the giggles and giggles of little pastel thieves-to-be. They'll never have a clue about the art of circus-themed burglary." Molly: "As if they'd understand the highs of stealing metal from their careless parents." Bill, chuckling, mocked, "The innocent, let's teach 'em what fun is." Molly: "It's a heist, not an education program." The two thieves, now comforted with their plan, walked toward the house, faces alight with the prospects of their freshly retrieved retirement. What Molly did not know, Bill's excitement held a secret addition: the sale of those toys' precious parts would break the bank. He had kept it to himself, praying Molly would find it alright. Seemingly, they were a perfect team, skilled, brazen, and adventurous, ready to stoop to new lows, stealing from birthday parties in the name of a comfy coast after life's sharp claws.
