Molly and Bill entered the rundown bar downtown. It was called 'The Black Swallow' and it was where everyone who considered themselves to be a professional thief went to discuss their business. It was dimly lit, with the only the bar illuminated. The walls were painted a sickly green and all the glasses had suspicious stains on them. Molly and Bill walked up to the barman and ordered two bourbon and bitters. Molly nudged Bill, "Do you think that the bartender knows that we have a brand new scam in the works?" Bill's eyes twinkled, "No, no one knows about our clever idea yet but when we tell them they will all want to get involved. We are stealing all the presents from a children's birthday party." "What kid's party are you talking about?" Molly asked. "Well, you know how sometimes first birthdays are a bit of a pain? Well this family has gone all out. They have invited every kid for three blocks and there are no fewer than twenty gifts under the tree. We will be bringing in some more muscle from the east side and get away with all the gifts." Molly interrupted Bill, "You know that this is all you care about, right? You're not worried about the boy or the big sister or even the parents? There is a good deal of jewelry on that tree; it might pay for your whole vacation to Belize." "I know what I doing," Bill replied, a familiar hardness in his voice. "I am just making sure that everyone involved understands the full details. We were talking about how your sister works at the kids birthday party spot that is only three miles from here. Could we use her for our income? We could sign up for a kids party package and in that time we could steal all the gifts without anyone realizing? I can't this kid's bracelets." Molly counted them one by one and agreed, "There are six bracelets on that girl's wrist, that is a payday and a half." As they finished their drinks they left the bar, planning to meet back at the old warehouse where they usually met before any of their jobs. Bill and Molly arrived at the warehouse. Molly sat down on a stuffy chair and started tapping her foot rhythmically on the floor. Bill, tapping his pencil on his clipboard said: "I think we just have to go with it. No one will even notice all the gifts are gone and they were too busy getting buzzed at the happy hour." "Or it could backfire and we could be in the clink for the rest of our lives," chided Molly. As they were about to leave the warehouse, the door to the warehouse swung open and in walked Jake, Molly's nephew. Molly's eyes lit up, "They really do like their jobs. We are bringing along little Jake to this gig. When we are out of this, we are going to live in Belize. Jake will be a professional thief, and we are going to live a life of pleasure." Molly hugged Jake, "Just you wait, Jake. You will see the life of a professional thief, right here in this dirty old warehouse. We are going to become free men and live a life on the high seas." "Forget the kids. What are we going to do with the presents?" asked Jake. Molly grinned at Jake, "Now that's the cheeky minx you are. You are going to find some little present somewhere and sit next to it like you won it. I will make this look exactly like any normal robbery." Jake nodded his head confidently, "I got it. I'm going to go to the children's party and play like I belong there. They aren't going to expect anything from me." Molly, Bill, and Jake left the warehouse, ready for a successful job.
