"Oh hello there, Quinn! Did you hear the dreadful news?" Patricia exclaimed, barely looking up from her celery stick. Quinn shook her head, grabbing a muffin from the case. "What news?" "Lucy's fresh out of jail! She's back in town!" Patricia whispered, leaning in close. "Can you believe it?" "Jail? Why was she in jail?" Quinn asked, confused. "ellesay theft, silly! She went on quite the crime spree before skipping town last month." Quinn's eyes widened. She remembered Lucy as the mischievous girl from high school, always getting into trouble. But theft? "Well I never! In MY town?" Quinn sputtered. "Who did she steal from this time?" "Your sister, Maggie! Cleaned out her cash register!" Quinn gasped. Maggie owned the diner downtown. How could Lucy do such a thing to an old friend? "Oh dear," Quinn fretted, "this will cause quite the stir. Especially with the Founder's Day festival coming up.
