Molly sniffed the air, detecting the unique smell of candy and helium combined. She knew they were close. The Getty's children party was notorious for people bringing their kids with last-minute presents. It was a gold mine- a place where the petals of a well-intentioned child could be sewn into a handbag that offered a substantial payout. She stood outside the party venue, a large warehouse that had been decorated to resemble a magical forest. She smiled as she visualized dollar signs. It was the perfect place to execute the perfect heist. The venue was the kind of place where people felt safe with large amounts of money. It had a lot of guests and, unlike the more edgy bank scenes, there were a lot of children here. There was no point in losing these two skills, especially when you could use them to pull off the most lucrative heist in recent memory. As she made her way towards the entrance, she scanned every individual, gossiping about decorations, drank wine, and mingled happily or were difficult-to-disguise sweat stains. Molly scanned the sea of adults, searching for the right face - the one with a place full of safe, light-hearted moments. Every one of those light moments they could steal the presents. Every devilish smile turned a corner to something dangerous with just the biggest suitcases. " Finally," She breathed, spotting her target. Bill - The "gadget Man." Bill was at the back corner of the party. He was chatting with some guy who was close to him, “They just told me they have some new violent video game coming in the fall. And even if I won't play MMGs, I'll be able to ruin my younger cousins by charging shooting gameplay.” "I think I might be on to something," Molly whispered softly to Bill, referring to the party bustling before them. Bill laughed nervously, stunned at the prospect of breaking into a party to steal presents from a children's party. "The Boss really knows what they're doing, huh?" he lightheartedly joked. "Of course," Molly replied with a grin, "the man knows how to strike big when the opportunity presents itself." As they crept towards the party, they strategized their careful approach. Molly considered the chaotic energy of the room, whimsically guiding the adults to parts that would make their goal achievable. "Have a set of spare keys from that guy you bought the part from," she said. "I hope he's as charming as he said. And I hope they've had him pay the bill." "What?" Bill muttered, trying to decipher her meaning. She explains that it's a simple way of ensuring that the host wouldn't suspect anyone. Slowly, their plan took shape: Molly would distract the guests while Bill tampered with the exit. He's always used to hiding the clues he wants, but now every person there knows that there's a lock hidden in the windows. " Remember," Molly warned. "Tonight, everyone's innocence should be preserved. No one should see their magic and innocence stolen away." Her face revealed an optimistic enthusiasm, masking her dark feelings. The two thieves began their break into the venue, watching the room for suspicious persons. Their self-imposed feud was briefly suspended as they felt a shared excitement in the air. As they talked, they realized that their aim was to remind everyone of their lost essence of youth, which had been corrupted by this societal state. Tonight, even for a stolen moment, they could both taste the freedom they had long been dreaming of, realizing that their world of mischievous attacks and daring escapes had a purpose. Their success ranked first as they encountered their first obstacle. A wide, velvet rope blocked their progress at the end of the exit, but this was nothing to men used to overcoming obstacles with their wit and cunning. But they had Crime Headquarters to thank for helping them train for the unimaginable. When planning to break into an event, especially one that involves children, they trained to think like a child with no limits. Molly looked around, her eyes quickly scanning the hallway for a way past the rope. She paused, then grinned triumphantly, recognizing that they were surrounded by balloons. The balloons were everywhere, defying the laws of physics, and were a staple of just about any party. The simple crocheted child would be more than happy to watch them like hosts for all the notorious thieves in the underworld. Molly nodded, her grin spreading against the red spot on her face, and then quickly opened the balloon to steal one that everyone didn't notice. "There," she said, holding up the balloon. "Take this part of your journey." Bill took the deflated surprise and unwrapped the knot, watching as the balloon blew up to its ultimate destination. Molly quickly distributed it around her side, taking her place at the exit door. She unaccountedly turned the doorknob without a sound. "You did it, Molly. I have to give it to boss... he might be catching up with us soon enough." "Nah, let's finish our project. Then we'll shoot up the party, just like a children's game!" they both laughed as they sped off into the night to begin their tale.
