Certainly! Here's a scene from a comedic heist book featuring Molly and Bill, two thieves planning to break into a children's party. Remember to leave a comment if you liked the scene. --- Molly and Bill were hunched over a table in a dimly lit motel room. Packs of black latex gloves, much-used lock picks, and a map littered the surface. Molly, a slender woman in her mid-thirties, had her blond hair pulled back into a messy bun, leaving beads of sweat to shimmer down her face. Bill, on the other hand, was an imposing figure, standing about six and a half-feet tall. His stocky figure was a result of copious amounts of fast food in his youth. He was covered in tattoos – one definitely said "Happy Birthday" – but Molly couldn’t make out the specifics due to his excessively gruff exterior. "You sure you want to do a gig like this? I mean, it's a kid’s party! That's a bit…” Bill waved his hands in an exaggerated motion, searching for the right words, "y'know – sketchy." He frowned, scrunching his eyes together in distaste. Molly rolled her eyes and tilted her head. "It's a job, Bill, not some type of Sunday school outing! Besides, these parents might help us in ways they know not." She gestured towards the map on the table and pointed to a large, multicolored dot. "The presents; we can get those on the way out." Bill shook his head but nodded reluctantly. "Fine, fine... you know me better than to turn down cash. Just remember, the whole 'not-getting-arrested' part of the plan.” He grinned, revealing two dimples in his cheekbones. “Your job, my friend, is to wait outside like nobody’s business. A mere innocent bystander. I’ll take care of getting us in and out, just like every other time.” Building a wicked grin, she playfully ruffled his hair. Molly and Bill were experienced in the world of heists. While Molly specialized in the stealthy arts of infiltration, Bill had all the brute force necessity for some of their more inhospitable venues. "The important thing is that we're well-prepared," Molly said, standing up to stretch, "You may not look the role, but people tend to walk all over you.” Bill frowned, realizing that he did have a point of interest in his current attire, consisting of a shabby suit and a complaining variation of batman-style sunglasses. "Ha, very funny," Bill said under his breath, smirking. Molly grabbed something from her trench coat pocket and walked over to him. "To calm your nerves, my Texan friend," she said, handing him a few candies. "Peppermints." She tossed another. "Eucalyptus mints." After eating a few peppermints to help his mouth not feel like a dry desert, Bill started to feel better. "We don't really need to do this job… but I must admit the idea of having all those presents as ransom has a certain appeal." Molly laughed, "Can't say I blame you.” The usual warm-up joke between the twain before getting down to business resumed. "Pilgrims first came to what we now call the US just to purify their sin. Imagine, not as thieves but as sin-cleansing priests doing penance." "Even more appealing now," Bill declared, laughing aloud. Despite their criminal lives, Bill and Molly had mastered the pop of grins and spark of camaraderie, turning the act of heists into something less daunting and more inviting to both. As they got ready to settle in for an afternoon at the kid’s party, they ignited the motivation to accomplish their mission. Molly and Bill knew that, in an odd way, they were fated to be the rogue heroes of their own story. With that, they stepped out door of the motel room and adjusted their masks, each confident in their roles and their ability to pull off the heist.
