Molly stood looking down at the children’s party from her hiding place in the strange room. It wasn’t a children’s room. No, she could see no toys, nothing to build with or to shoot at. Instead it was what looked like a reading room. It had floor to ceiling bookshelves on either side of the large sofa and portraits of children hanging in gold frames lining the walls. A fainting couch sat to the left of the fireplace and was cracked with decay. Above the crack was a creature jumping over a moon. How she laughed! A mythological unicorn leapt and danced across the rest of the pictures. She felt a headache coming already. At the far end of the room there was a small table in the centre. They seemed to wait as if in stasis for a spark of explosive energy to ignite the scene. Maybe it was the Chateau de Red and Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie- it was strange how long the memory loomed.
