The two thieves crept silently down the darkened street, their footsteps muffled by the thick carpet of autumn leaves. Molly glanced at her partner Bill as they approached the brightly lit house on the corner. "So, remind me of the plan again?" she hissed. Bill checked his watch. "In exactly three minutes, we make our move. I'll go in through the front while you hit the back door. The parents will be distracted by the clown and the magic show." "Right. And the presents are all stacked under the big tent out back. Child's play," Molly said with a smirk. They crouched behind a hedge, peering through the bushes at the party in full swing. Molly took a deep breath and began her own approach, skirting around the perimeter of the yard until she reached the back. She gripped the crowbar tightly, adrenaline already singing in her veins. She peered through the window. There was the stack of gifts, wrapped in glittery paper and bows, piled up like a glittering treasure trove. Molly licked her lips in anticipation. This was going to be good. She raised the crowbar and aimed for the doorknob... And froze when she heard the click of a gun being cocked behind her. Slowly, she raised her hands and turned to see a group of police officers emerge from the shadows, their weapons trained on her. "Freeze, thief! You're surrounded!" barked the lead cop. Molly groaned inwardly, realizing
