The two thieves crept along the back fence of the suburban home, their eyes fixed on the brightly colored party balloons bobbing in the breeze. Molly, a wiry brunette in her late twenties, glanced at her partner. "Kid's birthday party. Probably a ton of loot inside," she whispered, patting the duffel bag slung over her shoulder. Bill, an older man with greying hair, smirked. "And the parents will be too busy guzzling champagne to notice a thing." He hefted a crowbar. "I'll pop this lock, you grab the goods. Nice and quick." Molly nodded. They slipped over the fence and made their way to the back door, the excited chatter and music from inside growing louder. With a few swift strikes, Bill had the door open. They crept into the house, past the oblivious partygoers. Molly spotted the pile of colorful wrapped gifts and beelined for it. She shoved them into her bag haphazardly as Bill kept watch, grinning as she worked. Soon, they were out the door and over the fence again, their pockets heavy. "They really should lock their doors better," Bill chuckled darkly as they made their escape, leaving only torn wrapping paper behind. "That was easy pickings," Molly agreed gleefully. "Nothing beats swiping a kid's Christmas presents." "Ah, but it's not even Halloween yet!" Bill laughed wickedly as they melted back into the night with their ill-gotten booty.<|end_header_id|>
