Molly crept up beside Bill, peering over his shoulder at the colorful posters plastered on the front door of the house. "Little Timmy's 8th Birthday Party" they proclaimed in garish bubble letters. "I don't like this, Bill," Molly hissed under her breath. "Kid's parties? It's just not right." Bill rolled his eyes and checked his watch impatiently. "Oh relax, it'll be a piece of cake. Probably 20-30 presents to grab and done. Easy in, easy out." "And what if some brat recognizes us?" Molly argued. "Kids are smart. And nosy. I'm telling you, this is a bad idea..." Her protests were cut short by the sound of the front door flying open. A gaggle of shrieking children came pouring out onto the front lawn, their parents ushering them toward a waiting fleet of cars. "Quick, go go go!" Bill urged, pulling out a set of lockpicks and jamming them into the keyhole. The mechanism clicked and he pushed the door open. "After you." Molly hesitated only a second longer before slipping inside, Bill close on her heels. They found themselves in a cozy living room decorated with streamers and balloons. A towering pile of gaily-wrapped gifts sat on the floor in the corner. "It's now or never," Bill said, rubbing his hands together gleefully. "Grab the presents, Molly, and let's get the hell out of here before the brat comes back." As if on cue, they heard the front door burst open again and the patter of little feet racing up the stairs. "Presents! Presents!" a high-pitched voice squealed excitedly. Bill swore and shoved an armful of loot at Molly. "Take the back way! I'll distract him!" He sprinted for the stairs as the child bounded down them two at a time. "What the--who are you?" the boy yelled in surprise as Bill snatched him up by the arm. "Put me down!" "Not so fast, kiddo," Bill growled through clenched teeth. "Where I come from, we have a special rule - first one to the presents gets to open 'em all! So I win!" He released his grip and shoved Timmy aside, knocking him sprawling on the carpet. The kid immediately let out a howl of rage and pounded after Bill's retreating back.
